FAQ

A. Products and Services

  1. There are so many flooring products to choose from. How do I narrow it down and make a choice?

You are right, there are 1000s of styles and colors to choose from in carpet, hardwood, luxury vinyl, laminate, sheet vinyl, Marmoleum, and more. While you may browse the products shown on our website we can only show a limited number of products here. We suggest you visit one of our showrooms to speak with our flooring specialists. We will ask you questions about your project, your lifestyle, and intended uses, then help you narrow down to a product category, style, and color! We have many products available from the leading brands.

  2. Will I be able to take any of your samples home to check them out?

YES! We encourage you to take home physical samples of several styles so that you can view them in your own space and under your own lighting conditions. We can order additional samples for you from the mills to help you decide on specific colors. We will be there to support your decision process throughout.

  3. Can’t I see how the products will look in my own space by viewing them online?

Actually, YES! Our Room Visualizer allows you to upload a picture of your room(s) and then insert an image of the product you’re interested in. This is a fantastic way to visualize how a product will look when in a larger space. Don’t base your decision only on this tool, however. The way the product FEELS is just as important as how it LOOKS and there is no substitute for coming into our showroom to look and feel the products. We also have a much broader selection in the store than is found on the website.

  4. Vogel’s has a long history and reputation for selling and installing carpet. Do you offer and have the same level of expertise in other flooring products?

YES, we do. Vogel’s has been selling carpet and sheet vinyl since 1988, but have also been selling hardwood and laminate for over 15 years, and luxury vinyl and Marmoleum since their inception. Our reputation for customer service and installation quality cut across all categories.

  5. Speaking of Installation, do you have your own crews or do you subcontract that out?

Installation is a key component of the service we provide (though you can install on your own if you prefer!), and we use a mix of employees and subcontractors. Rest assured, ALL of our installers including our subcontractors are properly trained and experienced and we stand by their work. Backing them up are our Installation Manager and Warehouse Manager, who have a combined 65 years of installation experience between them!

  6. Do you offer any other products and services besides Flooring?

Glad you asked! We have been offering quartz and granite countertops for many years. We have a selection of samples from top brands including Silestone and Caesarstone at our showroom. And we can direct you to our fabricator Progranite’s larger showroom in Mukilteo if you prefer. We offer competitive pricing and as always excellent service.

  7. Will you repair or re-stretch our existing carpet?

Yes, we do. There are some cases where we will recommend replacing rather than repairing but we are happy to take a look (sending us pictures is a good way to start the process) and make a recommendation on how to proceed. Any carpet that we installed will be re-stretched free of charge for 2 years after installation.

  8. How about refinishing our hardwood floors?

Sure! We have dedicated crews that specialize in hardwood refinishing, as well as installation and repairs.

B. Estimating

  1. What is the process for getting an estimate?

There are two things we need to provide you an estimate: your product selection and measurements. We will need to schedule an in-home appointment with you to take measurements and gather all the job requirements. To request an appointment fill out the form here. In the meantime, we suggest that you visit our showroom where we can help you select the right product based on your needs.

  2. Can you give me a ballpark estimate? I know the type of product I want and the approximate square footage.

Yes, talk to one of our flooring specialists today to get a general idea. We will give you a range of prices for your desired product category but remember that the installation costs vary greatly depending on your site conditions which we can only determine at the job site. Also remember that the actual quantity of flooring needed will be greater than the measured square footage due to factors such as layout direction, seam placement, pattern repeats, width of the roll or box size, and waste due to the shape of the rooms being installed.

  3. Will you bring samples with you to the measure appointment?

We can bring a limited number of samples if you give us a general idea of the type of product, style and color you are looking for. The more you tell us about your project the more we can help you narrow it down. It is always best to visit our showroom to see a broader selection of our products.

  4. How long will the measure appointment take?

It depends on the size of your project, and may range from 10 minutes to over an hour. We will give you a 30-minute window for the arrival time, and most appointments will take between 30-60 minutes.

  5. How long does it take to get an estimate?

Once we have taken the measurements and have your product selection it should take between 1 – 3 days to produce your estimate. If we are held up longer than that for any reason we will contact you to give you an update.

C. Ordering Process

  1. I have an estimate and want to move forward. What are the next steps?

To place your order, we need a signed contract and a 65% deposit. If you are in the store you can sign the contract here and pay by credit/debit card, check, or cash. We can also send you a DocuSign contract to sign electronically, and you can pay using this form.

  2. What is the lead time from order to install?

This varies by time of year, type of project, and availability of materials. Most jobs take from 2 - 4 weeks. Speak to our scheduling coordinator about your specific project.

  3. I just made my deposit. Can you give me an install date now?

We typically need a couple of days to order all your materials and get an ETA for each of them. Once we have that we will reach back out to you with potential installation dates.

  4. Now that I have an installation date, will you send me a reminder when the date gets closer?

Yes. We will send you an email reminder 2 business days prior to the start of your installation. We will also call or text to make sure you received the message and that you are ready to go.

  5. When is the remaining 35% due?

Upon completion of the project. We will send you an invoice the day after completion. If you paid by credit card we will typically run the remaining balance on that card unless you prefer a different method.

  6. Do you offer Financing?

Yes, we have a program through Wells Fargo that allows you to finance all or a portion of your project. It is easy to apply and an approval decision with a credit limit comes back immediately. Go here for details.

D. Day of Installation

  1. Do I need to do anything to prepare the space for installation?

Although each job is different and we encourage you to speak directly with your scheduling coordinator, we have prepared a list of Day of Install Guidelines to help you prepare.

  2. Do I need to be home during the installation?

No, as long as someone is there to let the installers in, or a key or lockbox is made available. We prefer you are home at the end of the project to do a walk-thru with the installers.

  3. We are having our hardwood floors refinished. How will you protect our furniture from dust?

Our installers will hang plastic for dust protection as needed. Because refinishing jobs have some additional challenges, we have a separate Day of Install Guidelines list for this type of work.

E. Warranty and Product Maintenance

  1. Please tell me about your product warranties.

For products installed by Vogel’s, we provide lifetime installation warranty. Warranties for material defects, durability, and stain protection vary by manufacturer. If you have an issue with the material, we will help you interface with the manufacturer to submit a claim.

  2. What kind of vacuums do you recommend for my carpet? Why?

    See our Vacuum guide

  3. How often should I get my carpet professionally cleaned?

Most manufacturers recommend professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months. Keep your receipts. They may be needed if you submit a claim later with the manufacturer.

  4. Do you provide professional carpet cleaning, or do you recommend anyone?

We do not clean carpets, however, we highly recommend you use Rainier Specialty Services. They do an excellent job.

  5. I spilled grape juice on my carpet. What is the best way to clean it up to avoid staining?

The manufacturer of your carpet should have some useful information for cleaning your carpet. Cleaning methods depend on your carpet’s material. If you need help locating your manufacturer's warranty and cleaning suggestions please let us know and we would be happy to help.

  6. How should I clean my waterproof luxury vinyl floors?

The manufacturer of your luxury vinyl will be your best source of information. If you need help with locating this information and your purchase was made through Vogel’s we can help.

  7. Should I use water and vinegar to clean my hardwood floors?

NO. Avoid using water and vinegar, soap-based cleaners, wax, or steam cleaners on your hardwood floors. There are cleaners made specifically for hardwood floors that are residue-free, non-toxic, and fast drying. Try Bona or Kentwood .

  8. How should I clean my Marmoleum?

We recommend following the manufacturer’s suggestions.
